Break-Down: Death Race 2050 [VIDEO]

Manu Bennett, Marci Miller, and Malcolm McDowell feature in the political satire and action movie Death Race 2050, which was released in the United States of America in 2017 and was directed by G.J. Echternkamp. This movie is a continuation of the film Death Race 2000, which was released in 1975. Roger Corman, who was responsible for producing both movies, referred to the first one as "a car-racing picture with some dark comedy" in his introduction to the latter.

Death Race 2050's plot?

It is the year 2050 at this point. In the United Corporations of America, which has a problem with overpopulation and an unemployment rate of 99.993 percent, the Death Race has two purposes: it is both a form of entertainment and a method of population control. The current round of the Death Race is taking competitors from Old New York to New Los Angeles, and the defending champion is Frankenstein. Competing against Frankenstein are a genetically engineered athlete named Jed Perfectus, a hip-hop star named Minerva Jefferson, a female cultist named Tammy the Terrorist, and an evil, black, artificially intelligent, self-driving automobile named ABE. Each participant in the race is given a broadcaster who acts as their proxy and brings the viewers into the action of the race via the use of virtual reality. Frankenstein is instantly turned off by his proxy, Annie Sullivan, and dismisses both her efforts to interview him and her proposals to let his opponents pass him by.

Rebels headed by former network producer Alexis Hamilton install traps around the sector as the racers sprint along the East Coast. When Tammy and Minerva kidnap each other's cult members for kills, they establish a bitter rivalry. ABE malfunctions after falling into a rebel trap, killing its surrogate and abandoning the race to find its purpose in life. Hamilton instructs Annie, who is revealed to be her spy, to murder Frankenstein at the first checkpoint. Her effort to attract him fails since he is just interested on winning the race. The Chairman says that because of his longevity, Frankenstein has become a burden, but Perfectus will inspire his dedicated supporters to die at his hands.

There are several gun-toting locals in this area on Day 2 of the racecourse. .'s Tammy sends a suicide bomber to assassinate Chi Wapp, Minerva's proxy, who is killed by the bomber herself. Frankenstein takes a shortcut to another tip, but his automobile gets trapped in a cornfield. Frankenstein fights off a gang of Resistance ninjas as Annie goes out on her own to get more points. Annie confesses to being a rebel at the second checkpoint and tries to get Frankenstein on board. Frankenstein, a political agnostic, condemns both the rebels and the government, repeating his ambition to win the race. It is revealed to Annie at a bar by the educated intellectual Minerva who portrays a stereotyped hip-hop role for survival. Annie returns to Frankenstein's chamber and protects him from Perfectus, who is envious of his notoriety and sex appeal. In the meanwhile, it is revealed that Hamilton and the Chairman are working closely behind the scenes.

The government provides "approved" routes for the drivers on Day 3 of the race to prevent Resistance assaults. Because Frankenstein's right arm was crippled in his struggle with Perfectus, Annie assists him in shifting gears. Minerva pursues Tammy, but in order to dodge Tammy's suicidal proxy, she jumps over a cliff. Tammy gloats over Minerva's murder before an ABE drives her into the wall and self-destructs, killing both of them. Perfectus takes a backroad to the finish line, while Frankenstein and Annie eliminate Hamilton and her rebels. Perfectus loses control of his vehicle and smashes into the virtual reality control booth as both cars battle for place. Frankenstein sends a message to his admirers before crossing the finish line, implying that the Chairman is worth 1,000 points. After murdering the Chairman, Frankenstein invites the audience to leave their virtual world behind and participate in their own Death Race. Frankenstein and Annie stand in the distance as the nation descends into turmoil, arguing that they should repopulate the land after the upheaval has subsided.

How exactly was Death Race 2050 put together?

An Italian journalist told Corman that The Hunger Games resembled Death Race 2000 during an interview. Corman called Universal Pictures, who created the current version, to bring back the original's dark humor. Corman told them, "You did well, but you removed the pedestrian killings and broken-society themes."

Filming started while Corman was in his 80s, just around the time of the 2016 presidential election in the United States. It portrays a businessman who is currently the Chairman of the United States Corporations. "The president does have a hair style which may be approaching Trump's hair style, but I don't want to go too deep into that, since Trump will come and go and the film will stay."

Was Death Race 2050 an enjoyable experience?

"Even though the Death Race movie series is drawing to a close, there are a surprising number of Death Races in the franchise. Roger Corman returns to the Death Roger Corman's Death Race 2050 Race franchise with Death Race 2050, the follow-up to the Jason Statham-starring Death Race trilogy from the late 2000s and early 2010s. In spite of being excellent films in their own right, they had very little in common with the original Death Race 2000 from the 1970s. A three-day race through dystopian America, where pedestrian deaths are awarded points for their over-the-top personalities, is how Corman gets this burning disaster back on track!
